The frenetic, artistic and super-cosmopolitan Catalan capital has a natural paradise right next door. It’s the Serra de Collserola Park, the city’s gigantic green lung. It rises to over 500 meters, overlooking the Mediterranean. And it’s a gastronomic treasure chest. So, let’s go!
The adventure takes the form of a guided private walk to pick up aromatic herbs, and more. And what a fabulous invisible world it is. Sweet roots, edible flowers that look like spices, crunchy stalks that we would never have thought we could add to cooking…
Once our culinary collection is complete, we stop for a delicious picnic in the woods of Collserola. In the background, at the top of Mount Tibidabo, is the Expiatory Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, an architectural eccentricity from the early 20th century, like blessing our eccentric endeauvour.
The gastrobotanical tour was a success. When we get back to the kitchen, we’ll be surelly putting some absolutely unexpected flavors from the Catalan countryside into our pots! Olé!
