And during that period, we already had vintage cars at home that belonged to my parents. Over time, I began working with them, getting them ready for any eventuality.”

What started as wedding transportation evolved into something extraordinary. By 2018, João had converted his passion into a business, but it runs much deeper than that ambition.

The connection to these magnificent machines flows through João’s DNA. “Both my grandmothers are from the Douro region. So, born and raised right by the river. So, stories are never lacking. The love for the region is never lacking. And all of this ends up being fantastic. Being able to introduce my region, to show the place where I have roots.”

There’s another compelling layer to this tale. João’s hometown pulses with automotive history dating back nearly a century. “It’s great to be able to combine business with pleasure that has to do with the history of my city, Vila Real. My parents’ passion for vintage cars comes from there, and mine too. The beginning of my company is very much related to that history.”

Vila Real’s street racing circuit began in 1931, making it one of Europe’s oldest continuous motorsport venues. This heritage infuses every tour with authentic automotive soul, creating experiences that transcend typical tourist offerings.

João’s approach revolutionizes wine country exploration. While coaches lumber along main routes, his elegant fleet glides through narrow vineyard paths, accessing hidden corners where mass tourism never ventures. “The guest, besides finding a spectacular experience in a vintage car, ends up with a deep knowledge of the region. We go to the estates, we get to know the owners. We can have tastings and super exclusive guided visits with wines that are sometimes the house secret.”

The transformation in guests is immediate and profound. “They find that the feeling of riding in cars like these is something very different. They ask: ‘What is this?! How did this car end up here? It’s a car from our time!’ It has a fabulous impact. They’re happy to know the car belonged to my parents.”

For João, every tour represents something very meaningful. “Being able to introduce my region gives me immense pleasure. Besides the fantastic product they showcase in the region, which is Port Wine. And not only that: table wines are getting better and better!”
