The distinctive creativity of Portuguese cuisine has so celebrated as nowadays. The Michelin experts are well aware of this. This year they launched for the first time a guide entirely dedicated to Portugal (until now the country shared one with Spain). The 2024 list includes eight restaurants with two stars and 31 with one, spread across the mainland and the island of Madeira.

Most of the award-winning restaurants are in Lisbon and Porto, followed by the Algarve. But that’s not all: in addition to the starred restaurants, there are 21 recommended ones, and several in the Bib Gourmand section, that is, restaurants that offer good value for money, up to 45 euros. The exciting Michelin ceremony where all was revealed, in February in Albufeira, also gave out special awards for Best Young Chef, Best Sommelier and Best Dining Room Service.

All this is a remarkable triumph for a country with only 10.5 million inhabitants but millions of travelers. So much celebration calls for discovery! Here’s the list, organized by city and region. Go on, book your tables!
